Slapping in Softball…
Playing chess while the others play checkers…
Bunt in for Hits
Utilizing the slapper’s speed and field vision, a well-placed bunt, usually a drag bunt, can be very difficult to make on the infield.
Sacrifice Bunts
When all else fails or the defense makes an outstanding play, a good bunt can always result in a sacrifice to move the runners up a base.
Soft Slaps
With the 3rd baseman up and shortstop playing deep, the soft slap exploits the defensive positioning.
Power Slaps
Often overlooked, the power slap can be the run-producing, game-changing hit to the gap that clears the bases.
Choppers
Choppers put the pressure on the defense by slamming the ball into the ground on the left side of the infield.
Flairs
Flairing the ball over the infield and in front of the outfielders is one of the most frustrating products of a good slap hitter.
